(samskr^tham: सीता; "Sītā", Khmer: នាង សីដា?; Neang Sida, Malay: Siti Dewi, Indonesian language:Dewi Sinta,Thai: Nang Sida, Lao: Nang Sanda, Burmese: Thida Dewi, Tagalog: Putri Gandingan, Maranao Tuwan Potre Malaila Tihaia) . ശ്രീരാമൻറെ പത്നിയാണ് സീത. മിഥിലിയിലെ രാജാവായ ജനകൻ നിലമുഴുമ്പോൾ കിട്ടിയതിനാൽ [11]സീത, ഭൂമീദേവിയുടെ മകളാണെന്നാണ്‌ ഐതിഹ്യം. മിഥിലയിലെ രാജകുമാരിയായതിനാൽ സീത മൈഥിലി എന്ന പേരിലും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ക്ഷമയുടെ ദേവതയാണ് സീതയെന്ന് വിശ്വാസം. ഭൂമി പിളർന്ന് സീത അന്തർധാനം ചെയ്തു എന്നാണ് രാമായണം പറയുന്നത്. വിഷ്ണുപത്നിയും ഐശ്വര്യത്തിന്റെ ഭഗവതിയുമായ ലക്ഷ്മിയുടെ അവതാരമാണ് സീതയെന്ന് ഹൈന്ദവർ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. സീതാ രാമായണത്തിൽ സഹസ്രമുഖരാവണനെ വധിക്കാൻ ഉഗ്രരൂപിണിയായ കാളിയായി അവതരിച്ചതും സീതയാണ് എന്ന് ഐതിഹ്യം.
